Taking care of us, when we take care of child with special need
Having a baby is a joyous experience of our life. Despite many worries during pregnancy, we all cherish a picture perfect healthy, cuddly and cute baby in our arms. Everyone we know gets involve to make plans around that bundle of joy; while we bask around in the thought of motherhood in due time.
Now picture this, you are 24th week pregnant, your doctor just told you one of your twin babies didn’t survive in the womb and you have to go through a c-section in couple weeks to save the life of your baby. You are in a shock; in total disbelief, you don’t know why this had to happen to you, you have done everything humanly possible to follow your doctor’s order, or what you read on the magazine on pregnancy, or what your friends and family are telling you to do. What did you do to deserve something like this? Why you? You already chose the names, made plans for the future, now what? (more…)

Story of a Leader
I found this article about an outstanding woman leader Majeda Begum. I am attaching some of it here to share with our readers.

Women need to build self-confidence
Recently I was reading an article by Abida Ali, a Sales Manager in a Bangladeshi Bank. The article was published in the Daily Prothom Alo’s special issue on Women’s Day.  It was based on the theme of self-confidence in women. Writer stated that she at her workplace does not expect to be treated differently for being a woman; neither does she expect any undue favors for being a woman.
Practically speaking, we all at our workplaces face the same challenge as men. At home, challenges are even greater! But seemingly there is a misconception in many Bangladeshi women that they cannot succeed to the same extent as men can.  This is caused by lack of self-confidence. In general, women in Bangladesh are raised either in a protective environment, or in an environment that lacks respect for women. These weaken women’s confidence. In order to overcome these, women need to be stronger, educated and self-confident.
If women are trained equally, there is no reason why they can not take the same responsibilities, or perform the same tasks as men can. We need to be able to deal with challenges when they appear, instead of being helpless and waiting for others to rescue us.  It would help male members in the family too, since there would be more sharing of responsibilities.
I would like to reiterate Abida Ali’s theme of the article; we need to think ourselves as human beings, not weak women. We need to believe in ourselves!

E-learning: Career move w/o moving from home
Couple of days someone asked me about Microsoft Certification courses. I looked at the website and found there are e-learning opportunities that can help one with his/her next project or to take their career to the next level.
I thought most popular ones will be SQL Server, Visual Studio and Office. Most of them are intended for IT professionals; however, even if you are not an IT-Pro yet, but want to learn, it might be worth while to try some of the free 90 day subscriptions.
