Are you one of those women who have given up a hobby or an ambition due to unavoidable circumstances in life? If yes then do you regret it? Have you ever thought of rejuvenating your hobby or ambition?

Many women around the world have given up their interest to serve the interests of others, be it their family, their husband, children or the in laws. I was watching this music video the other day where 3 homemakers in India renews their passion for dancing, poetry and fashion designing all of which they had left when they got married. Fortunately for the women in the music video their husbands & in laws were supportive, a state every women expect to have in their lives.

In many countries women have come a long way. Many are well educated, work outside home, and manage both the home and work perfectly well. In all this some still fail to maintain their hobby or end up doing something which they don’t want to do, but their parents, husband or extended family think is the best thing for them to do.

For the modern women, it often becomes difficult to maintain the multiple demands of the household and the public world which forces her to give up her ambitions. A good way to deal with such situation would be to find a way to incorporate her passion within her household or work. If someone has a knack for writing, she can easily peruse her higher education in literature to ultimately attain a job which provides her with a platform to explore her passion further. When one enjoys her work, no matter how uncommon of a profession one chooses, she is sure to excel, ensuring a decent income.

For the homemakers, hobbies like designing & stitching, singing, dancing or painting can actually give her a chance to earn some extra cash at home, which might convince her family to support her to bring in a secondary income into the household.

And for those who have just forgotten their passion while achieving material or relational superiority, maybe 2008 will be a time to rejuvenate their previous interests. One can easily take out an hour to two each week to indulge themselves into a work of interest. Not only will it recuperate your mundane life, it may provide you with some extra income, expertise, or social or cultural superiority.

I would like to know from Adhunika readers if any of them have forgotten about their interests in the past. Can they think of ways to revive their interests?
